Memrie | Empower 30+ Spotlight | Hadonica's Photography
Meet Memrie!
What does it look like when a loving mama decides to not only celebrate her own life’s journey but share the joy with her young daughter? Let me introduce you to Memrie!
We love to customize each session to represent what the client values and holds close to their heart. For Memrie, that is her daughter, Laney. Both of them joined us in the studio and lit up the entire place with their smiles and joy!
Before the shoot:
“Hadonica's Photography has been doing an Empower 30+ photo session this year. When I first saw her ad come up on Facebook, I thought… Hahaha, I won’t be in my 30’s much longer I’m too old for a photo shoot... but it sure would be fun!!!
Then I started thinking… my baby girl isn’t a baby girl anymore, she’s going into sixth grade!!!! Time goes by too fast and in the blink of an eye, she will be graduating high school. What better way to capture Laney’s youth before middle school, and me KINDA still being in my 30s, than having a photo shoot!!!”
Memrie’s Q&A:
Why did you want this photoshoot?
I wanted to have pictures of myself and my daughter.
One word to describe yourself. Why did you choose this word?
Friendly. I feel like I’m the type of person that wants to make everyone feel included. I can carry on a conversation with a complete stranger and probably find something in common with them. Just to make them feel more comfortable.
Who are you as an individual?
First and foremost, I’m a child of God. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, niece, and friend. I’m compassionate and get attached to people really easily. I’m a beautician by trade, and I like to think I make people feel better about themselves.
What were you hoping to get out of your session experience?
I wanted to feel confident and I wanted to have a great time while showing my daughter that “big is BEAUTIFUL”
In your opinion, what are some stigmas and beliefs that women face after they turn 30?
I’ve been told that after you turn 30 that your life is “over”. That the rest of your life is just repetition. Day in and day out it’s the same thing. Cooking, cleaning, and being a good wife and mom. If you don’t keep your house spotless that you don’t care. Once you turn 30 everyone just “lets themselves go”.
What advice do you have for other women in their 30s?
Take tons and tons of pictures and videos. Love yourself… who cares if your house is spotless, spend time with your family. Sit down and watch a movie with your kids, even if you don’t have time. If you’re grumpy in the mornings, wake up 30 minutes earlier than everyone else so you can get mentally prepared for the day. Try not to be negative all the time.
Look for the positive things in life…. Instead of saying “I have to cook supper tonight” try saying “ I get to cook supper for my family tonight”. Push yourself to be the healthiest and happiest version of “you” that you can. Laugh!!!!! Laugh at your mistakes…. Giggle with your kids and spouse… just have a good healthy time with your family and friends. And most of all remember that God loves you and wants to see you happy.
Memrie said that through this experience she felt more beautiful, but the effects didn’t stop there.
“I just wanted everyone to know what an amazing experience this was for not only me but for my self-conscious baby girl. Society once told us that if you are a “plus size” girl you were ugly. That you couldn’t be in pageants… or on the cheer team… or the dance team… but guess what. They were all wrong….
I tell Laney almost every day, “Baby!! Big is Beautiful!!!!”
I can honestly tell you that since this photo shoot Laney has become more confident in herself, I didn’t have to tell her 15 times that her shorts looked great on her yesterday. I only had to tell her twice.
Sooooo, alllllll the mommas out there…. You are BEAUTIFUL the way you are!!! Tell your girls how beautiful they are!!!! Lift them up when you see them struggling…. Do what you can to make them feel beautiful!!!!!”
