Wilhelmina | The Transformative Power of Self-Expression | Hadonica's Photography
Meet Wilhelmina!
When I first met Wilhelmina, it felt as if I was reconnecting with a distant sister I never knew I had. From the moment we shook hands, there was an instant connection—a magnetic pull that drew us closer, making the encounter feel both profound and serendipitous. What struck me immediately were her butterfly earrings. They were not just accessories but seemed to symbolize something deeper, something that resonated with me on a personal level. Little did I know, these simple, elegant pieces would become a powerful metaphor for the transformation we were about to witness.
A Session of Empowerment and Inspiration
Wilhelmina’s photoshoot was not just another session—it was an experience that transcended the ordinary. It was a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, a beautiful dance between vulnerability and strength. Watching her transition from one pose to another, each more powerful and confident than the last, was nothing short of mesmerizing. The session was a testament to her desire to embrace and project the multifaceted woman she aspires to be.
As we delved deeper into the shoot, the atmosphere in the studio shifted from professional to profoundly personal. The music played a crucial role in this transformation. One song, in particular, stood out and set the tone for the entire session: "Why Not Me." Its lyrics, full of raw emotion and introspection, seemed to echo the very sentiments Wilhelmina was grappling with—questions of self-worth, identity, and the courage to step into her own light.
The Power of Connection
This experience was a poignant reminder of the power of connection—both with oneself and with others. Meeting Wilhelmina felt like meeting a long-lost sister, and watching her transform during the shoot was a profound reminder of the beauty of self-expression. The emotional depth of the session underscored the importance of creating spaces where people feel safe to explore and express their true selves.
In the end, Wilhelmina’s photoshoot was more than just a series of images—it was a celebration of transformation, empowerment, and the incredible journey of becoming one’s true self. It was an honor to witness her unfold before our eyes, and the memories of that day will remain a source of inspiration for everyone who had the privilege of being part of it.
As we reflect on this experience, it’s clear that the true essence of a photoshoot lies not just in capturing a moment but in capturing the soul’s journey. For Wilhelmina, her photoshoot was a powerful step towards embracing her full self, and for those of us who watched, it was a moving testament to the transformative power of self-expression.
WILHELMINA’S Q&A:
How do you show love to yourself and what is your love language?
I show love to myself by treating myself to self care every single day, whether it’s an at home facial , a hot bubble bath at the end of the day, and a cup of herbal Tea. Plants are my therapy. From time to time, depending on whatever emotion I am feeling that day, I would shop for a new house plant. My love language is words of affirmation as the receiver, and as a giver my love language is acts of service.
Who are you as an individual?
Who am I as an individual… I am determined, full of love, resilient, and virtuous.
Why did you choose now to do a photoshoot?
I chose now because I’m a point in my life where nobody’s opinion matters but mine, I’m in a “care free” season of my life.
How do you feel about yourself in photographs?
I’m critical of certain parts of my body.
In your opinion, what are some stigmas and beliefs that women face after they turn 30?
The stigmas and misconceptions that women encounter after the age of 30 stems from the notion of a loss of time. Another stigma is having their life path set, such as employment, marriage, and family.
What advice do you have for other women in their 30s?
Being authentic is the best advice I can provide to women over the age of 30. Disappointments are a gift, and you should love yourself no matter what.
What do you currently love about yourself?
My intelligence is currently what I adore about myself. Having started from nothing, I am appreciative of how far I've come and how beauty has been created out of ashes.
